Here at Crossroads Rescue
Mission, The men of the Sons of
God class have taken a special,
further step in their walk with
God. These men have devoted
themselves to a more rigorous
curriculum designed to not only
further their personal spiritual
development, but also to expose
them to the possibilities that
could lay ahead of them in
pursuing the full time ministry
as a career calling.
To enter
the Sons of God program these
men must sign a six month
commitment to the Mission and to
themselves stating their desire
and dedication to put forth
their best efforts and comply
with the program guidelines.
This is a serious commitment in
that the men have agreed to
wholeheartedly pursue the
required guidelines. Just like
college, they must maintain the
minimum course requirements or
they may be asked to leave the
Mission.
The men
of the Sons of God class build
new relationships and share
similar experiences. These men
occupy the same dorm, and share
matching class schedules,
allowing them to fellowship and
study Gods word together. They
are expected to be “encouragers”
to new residents. The Sons of
God help the newcomers to
transition into the Mission
environment and discover the new
ways of life they can experience
through the application of
Biblical principles to their
lives.
"For unto whomsoever much is
given, of him shall be much
required." - Luke 12:48
Students
of the Sons of God class are
allowed weekly “home passes”
where they are encouraged to
share with family and friends
the miraculous work that God is
performing in their lives. This
time allows a man a freedom to
apply the principles he has
learned here at the Mission in a
“real world” environment. As he
begins to rebuild family
relationships that were strained
by a difficult past, he will
find that dependence on the Lord
is necessary to move forward.
This is rarely easy, but with
God leading and guiding us all
things are possible.
The
knowledge that there is
accountability to the class and
the Mission while the man is
basically unsupervised allows
for a sense of security and
confidence that may be useful
while learning to apply this new
way of life to the daily
difficulties they once found so
overwhelming.
What
does the future hold for the
Sons of God students?
We have
several resources in place and
are in the process of developing
more to assist these men in
moving forward in their lives.
Currently we offer an employment
readiness class that can help
these men prepare themselves for
re-entry to the work force. We
provide transportation to area
employers for the men to seek
employment as well as internet
access for employment searches
and research. Once they are
employed these men can extend
their stay here at the Mission,
for a nominal residence fee,
until they have saved enough to
move ahead.
We also
offer men who would choose the
option of continuing their
education, the opportunity to
continue residency here at the
Mission while they progress in
school.
We can
also assist men in setting up a
residency outside the Mission
when they have completed all
coursework satisfactorily and
have established themselves in a
manner to move forward. This may
mean gainful employment for some
men or some other form of income
for those who can not return to
employment due to bona fide
disability. This is handled on a
individual basis with a focus on
each mans needs. Furnishings,
appliances, food and clothing
are resources we can provide as
well as some financial
assistance and rental referrals
in some cases. At times we are
even able to provide vehicles
for successful graduates of the
Sons of God Program if we have
vehicles available. [please see
our vehicle donations link on
how you could help make this a
reality for our residents and
receive a tax savings by doing
so!]
