5/4/2010 We had a marvelous Jubilee 2010!

The Lord showed up every night, and showed us that he is in control, and that the victory is already won, we're just waiting for Him to come back to get us!

If you missed it this year, there's always next.

Christmas Party for Residents
This years Christmas party in honor of residents was wonderful! All of the men had steak dinners and fantastic desserts.

Each of the men got a gift box from Gilead Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee filled with with various toiletry items.

The men didn't want all the praise though!

Bro. Rocky and Mrs. Debra Shelton and Bro. Dusty Brackett were honored as well with plaques showing how much the men cared for their sacrifice.

We cannot thank them enough for allowing the Lord to work through them to help the lives of these men.

Bro. David Jones' poem dedicated to Crossroads

Brother David Jones has been such a blessing to the men here at Crossroads. When he is not preaching God's Word to the men, he is praying for all of them. He has helped make the song "I'm Gonna Die on this Battlefield" into the mission theme song. This is his poem written for the men here and Crossroads' founder, Bro. Rocky Shelton:

“A Man of the Mission

By Brother David Jones, Pastor of Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church, Shelby, NC

In honor of Crossroads Rescue Mission, and its founder Brother Rocky Shelton

I’m a man of the mission:
A broken man by definition.
The things I’ve done lips shouldn’t utter,
That part of my life which was spent in the gutter.

But now I’m a man with a mission:
No longer worried about my condition.
Jesus saved my broken life…
Delivered me from sin and strife…
Washed me in that precious flow. And
Taught me what I didn’t know.

I’m a man of the mission:
With a brand new heart, and strong ambition!
To live for Christ is my highest aim…
To bring honor to his worthy name.

I’m a man of the mission:
And I’m here of my own volition!
Mock me, and ridicule me if you must…
But I know in whom I’ve put my trust!

I’m a man of the mission:
My destiny no longer under suspicion!
I’ve yielded to Christ in total submission…
Not ashamed to be called, A Man of the Mission

Thanksgiving Dinner

Crossroads Rescue Mission would like to thank Old Navy and One Warm coat for helping us help the cold and hungry this year. Each year Crossroads has a Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate of the community and for those who are just looking for a place to go in order to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with good fellowship. This year we were able to provide an added bonus of handing out gently used outer wear to those who had a need for winter gear.

In addition to donated coats, we received new hats, scarves, gloves and other winter accessories donated by Old Navy shoppers and associates. Old Navy stores in Charlotte, Gastonia, Hickory and Mooresville participated in the coat collections, with their sales associates guiding shoppers to give their gently used apparel in return for sales discounts on their new clothing purchases.

One Warm Coat is a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide a warm coat to anyone who needs one. They find companies like Old Navy who are civic minded and pair them up with organizations like Crossroads Rescue Mission, who then distribute the coats to those in need.

Cleveland County Community Foundation Grant
Crossroads would like to thank the Board of Directors of the Cleveland County Community Foundation for it's recent grant of $1000 to help feed the residents of Crossroads Rescue Mission as they work to rebuild there lives. The Cleveland County Community Foundation has played an integral part in supporting the Mission over the years and has greatly helped our men once again this year. Additional thanks go to the staff of the Foundation for the Carolinas who assisted us in this process and offers their expertise to the CCCF.
